As the Communications Officer at CHP Canada, I worked at the intersection of industry and government. By managing the Association’s publications, I learned about the intricacies of the regulatory process and the ins-and-outs of advocating for big-business.

BringITOn.ca: Ottawa, ON

BringITOn.ca is an offshoot website of the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance-Women In Technology (CATA-WIT). The website was launched in the fall of ’09 and is provides a forum and resources to young women ages 15-25 interested in a career in science and technology.

CampusCompare: Montreal, QC

CampusCompare was an online interactive guidebook for colleges in the United States, with estimated monthly visits of 60,000. It went offline in 2009.

  • Wrote daily blogs covering all aspects of college admissions.
  • Created and maintained our editorial calendar.
  • Authored “DearBabs,” an advice column on college admissions, syndicated online through the McClatchy wire in over 12 newspapers nationwide, from the Sacramento Bee to the Idaho Statesman.
  • Developed editorial relationships with related websites like Scholarships.com, guest-blogging and co-publishing articles.
  • Designed and delivered a weekly email newsletter to 50,000 people, resulting in both traffic and affiliate-sales revenue.
  • Created innovative social media campaigns, like a “Campus Spy” Twitter contest.
  • Managed an ad budget of 36K a year.
